A homeowner in Reno NV recently contacted us after deciding it was time to move on from their aging 50-gallon natural gas tank water heater. Between the inefficiency of a traditional tank system and the homeowner’s interest in better water quality throughout the home, this was a great opportunity to do a comprehensive upgrade. Our technician Will handled the full scope of the project over two days, starting with the removal of the old unit and making way for a modern, high-efficiency setup.
Will installed a new Navien NPE-240A2 tankless water heater, connecting the recirculation line and bleeding out any trapped air to ensure smooth, consistent hot water delivery throughout the home. The condensate drain was routed to the exterior on the south side of the garage for proper drainage. He also installed a new Halo H2O Ultimate whole-home filtration and conditioning system, which addresses water quality at every faucet and fixture in the house. To round out the project, Will replaced ten angle stops and supply lines with new safety valves, re-installed the existing pressure reducing valve, insulated the water lines, and strapped everything securely in place. Before wrapping up, he flushed the tank and confirmed there were no leaks — everything checked out great.
On the second visit 48 hours later, Will returned to activate the Halo system and put it fully into service. This two-phase approach ensures the filtration system is properly initialized for long-term performance. The homeowner now has an efficient, on-demand hot water system paired with whole-home water treatment — a combination that reduces energy costs, extends the life of plumbing fixtures, and improves water quality from every tap. If you’re considering upgrading your water heater or adding a whole-home filtration system, we’re happy to walk you through the options and find the right fit for your home.
